after a couple of stop start years, earworm has now definitely closed its doors and ceased trading for a final time. we flirted with the idea of a full on return back in 2004/5, due mainly to offers of singles by spacemen 3, the hidden cameras and the earlies- bands you do not say no to. the label started in 1996 and was only ever a "one hour a night, from home" operation. yet it was proudly the first label to release uk vinyl by yo la tengo, the apples in stereo, bright eyes, the essex green, magnetophone, of montreal and many other us /uk "underground" artists whose name is now commonplace, among them more recently, and notably, the besnard lakes. for awhile in the late 90s/early 00s the label became almost a UK base for several of the elephant 6 u.s bands, and releasing stuff from personal faves like sonic boom, dean wareham, damon and naomi, yo la tengo and the earlies. cheers to everyone who bought the wax, supported the label and of course the bands themselves....! last update: april 28, 2007
